ATTENDING ISSPD CONGRESS

Attending the ISSPD Congress is a wonderful opportunity for students and trainees to participate in a global gathering of renowned clinicians, researchers, and experts in the field of personality disorders.

The student-focused events at the ISSPD Congress 2025 will provide a unique opportunity for you to connect with fellow students, share ideas, and gain valuable insights from experts in the field. You will also have the chance to network with professionals from around the world, build your professional network, and learn about the latest developments and research findings in the area of personality disorders.

Stephanie Römer
Wollongong, Australia

Stephanie is a psychologist and a PhD (Clinical Psychology) student at the University of Wollongong, Australia. She has been working as a psychologist in the Netherlands and Austria. Stephanie is also a Research Fellow at Project Air Strategy, currently investigating early interventions for young people with emerging personality disorder as well as evaluating a brief intervention program.

Alejandra Díaz Arabia
Peru

Alejandra is a Venezuelan psychologist and psychotherapist who graduated from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas, Venezuela and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She has training in Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and General Psychiatric Management (GPM) for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

She is also part of the team of therapists at the Peruvian Institute for the Study and Comprehensive Approach to Personality (IPEP), where she provides assessment and psychotherapy for personality disorders. She is currently pursuing a certification as a TFP therapist from the International Society of Transference Focused Psychotherapy (ISTFP).

She is interested in researching personality disorders, especially borderline and narcissistic personality disorders and their treatment from psychodynamic perspectives such as Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) and Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT).

Spencer Chen
Canada

Spencer Chen (she/her/hers) is a Chinese clinical psychology graduate student at Simon Fraser University in Canada. She is passionate about research on borderline personality disorder (BPD) and suicide, with a particular focus on understanding the factors that lead chronically suicidal individuals with BPD to refrain from acting on their suicidal thoughts. Spencer is involved in the Student Section conference planning, collaborates with the SC Social Media/Relations Chair for event promotion, and gathers post-conference feedback from members.

Lewis Stulcbauer
Perth, Australia

Lewis is a Master of Clinical Psychology and PhD (Psychology) student in the Perth Emotion and Psychopathology lab at the University of Western Australia. His research focuses on emotion regulation as a transdiagnostic factor across psychopathology. In his PhD, Lewis is exploring the role of emotion regulation monitoring processes in the relationship between childhood abuse and adult psychopathology.

I am a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey, USA. My research aims to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and the lived experience of individuals with borderline personality disorder. As past-president of the ISSPD Student Section Committee,I am passionate about helping to facilitate a deeper understanding of personality disorders among students and trainees world-wide.
